Castelli Winter 2013 Sneak Peek

Castelli Winter 2013 Sneak Peek by Sarah Esterman

Last week, we rode over to Castelli to get a sneak peek of their Winter 2013 line. In brief: it’s smokin’ hot. Here are some of our favorites to watch out for when we get our first shipment in
August:

Mens

Misto Jacket in Black
Misto Jacket. This jacket is awesome. The Misto will be the go-to jacket for staying warm, dry and to look good on wet winter rides.  The sleek design features a high collar, seam sealed seams and a waterproof zipper for complete waterproofness. But the coolest part is the nice and stretchy (and not at all plastic-y) Torrent 2.5 fabric with 10,000mm waterproofness and 8,000 MVP breathability. And when you’re ready to lose a layer, the Misto conveniently folds to fit into your jersey pocket.
Poggio Jacket in White/Black/Red

Poggio Jacket.  We love the look and the function of the Poggio. The Windstopper® X-Lite stretch fabric (the best of the best) on the front is windproof and splash resistant and the back has Warmer fabric for high breathability. Visibility is great, too. Rear reflective tabs and the screen-printed reflective chest logo will assure you’re seen from the front and the back. And really, it just looks cool.

Pampeago Wool Jersey in Anthracite

Pampeago Wool Jersey. This is the perfect jersey to wear on casual rides, or to just wear. Enough said. It’s just that cool.

Flanders Wind SS

Flanders Wind SS. All of the base-layers are pretty awesome, but the Flanders Wind short sleeve is definitely one to add to your closet. With Windstopper® fabric on the front, you’ll be able to ride in surprisingly cold weather in just a jersey. Plus, the multidenier 100% polyester main body acts like a reservoir to keep it from feeling too clammy against your skin.

Arrivo Bibtight

Arrivo Bibtight. Love the Sorpasso but it isn’t keeping you warm enough on your rides? Then the Arrivo is for you. Castelli considers it “the Sorpasso for the far North,” and for good reason. The thick fleecy Windstopper® X-Fast 2 fabric thigh and knee coverage will extend the comfort range to well below freezing. But they’ve kept the Thermoflex Core Due in the front around the seat-pad area for wind protection and warmth and wicking.

Womens

Magia W Jacket in Deep Blue/White
Magia W Jacket. This jacket doesn’t just look hot—and that it certainly does—it’ll also keep you warm without overheating. Windstopper® X-Fast 2 fabric on the front is windproof and water-resistant and the Warmer back panel will prevent overheating. Rear reflective tabs will keep you visible in low-light and a silicone gripper at the waist keeps the jacket from riding up. And let’s be real, this is a really flattering look.

Incanto W Jersey FZ in Black/White
Incanto W Jersey FZ. It was really hard to choose between the women’s jerseys for this list, but the Incanto makes it because it, yes, looks awesome, but also features stretchy Thermoflex Lite fabric which makes it great for those fall rides when the leaves are starting to change and there’s a chill in the air. And the sublimation-print asymmetrical graphic is awesome.

Fiamma Jersey FZ in Anthracite/Pink

Fiamma Jersey FZ. This is such a great look. We love the flames. Especially in anthracite/pink. Plus, the Warmer fabric makes it warm and moisture wicking.

Gardena W Wool Jersey in Magenta

Gardena W Wool Jersey. This is like the female version of the men’s Pampeago. Perfect for casual rides or to just wear whenever. And the screenprint graphics are awesome.

Sella W Rain Jacket in White

Sella W Rain Jacket. This is the ultimate rain jacket. Fully seam sealed with waterproof zippers this’ll keep you nice and dry. Reflective piping and screen print provide optimal visibility from all angles—and definitely adds to the sleekness of the design.

Sorpasso W Tight in Black/Green Fluo
Sorpasso W Tight. The best tight Castelli has ever made will finally be available for women! Thermoflex  and Thermoflex Core Due fabric keep you warm and dry. The women’s version also features a Progetto X2 Air women’s-specific seat for maximum comfort. And, like the rest of the line, the design looks great.

Can't wait till August? Yeah, us neither. But in the meantime, check out our current Castelli collection.
