Sleek New Styles by Twin Six

By Sarah Esterman

The Ace by Twin Six

This season's new line of cycling jerseys by Twin Six is downright awesome. Keeping the high-quality performance value we can expect from a brand like Twin Six, the new looks feature bold vintage vibes that will definitely help you stand out from the rest.

"We're all about doing our own thing," Mark Fischer, from the sales and marketing division of Twin Six, told us in 2011, "The name Twin Six originally came from a 6 cylinder car engine invented by the Packard Brothers in the 1920's. When the concept was first introduced to larger, more established car manufacturers still using four-cylinder engines, they were dismissed. So the Packard brothers manufactured it themselves. The same attitude translated to this company."

No doubt it has. And it seems that this year's line was specially-designed for devoted cycling fans. Whether you rock the Ace, the Speedy Flanders or the Grand Prix for men or the Climber or Super Star for women, you will definitely be cycling in style.

I love my Castelli Gabba cycling jersey by Doug Duguay

I feel like a European pro riding in my Gabba!
I feel like a super hero.  My Gabba, a summer jersey, a pair of arm warmers, a pair of bibs with leg warmers and I am happy in temps between 45 and 60 degrees.  I wouldn't want anything else

Castelli Winter 2013 Sneak Peek

Castelli Winter 2013 Sneak Peek by Sarah Esterman

Last week, we rode over to Castelli to get a sneak peek of their Winter 2013 line. In brief: it’s smokin’ hot. Here are some of our favorites to watch out for when we get our first shipment in
August:

Mens

Misto Jacket in Black
Misto Jacket. This jacket is awesome. The Misto will be the go-to jacket for staying warm, dry and to look good on wet winter rides.  The sleek design features a high collar, seam sealed seams and a waterproof zipper for complete waterproofness. But the coolest part is the nice and stretchy (and not at all plastic-y) Torrent 2.5 fabric with 10,000mm waterproofness and 8,000 MVP breathability. And when you’re ready to lose a layer, the Misto conveniently folds to fit into your jersey pocket.
Poggio Jacket in White/Black/Red

Poggio Jacket.  We love the look and the function of the Poggio. The Windstopper® X-Lite stretch fabric (the best of the best) on the front is windproof and splash resistant and the back has Warmer fabric for high breathability. Visibility is great, too. Rear reflective tabs and the screen-printed reflective chest logo will assure you’re seen from the front and the back. And really, it just looks cool.

Pampeago Wool Jersey in Anthracite

Pampeago Wool Jersey. This is the perfect jersey to wear on casual rides, or to just wear. Enough said. It’s just that cool.

Flanders Wind SS

Flanders Wind SS. All of the base-layers are pretty awesome, but the Flanders Wind short sleeve is definitely one to add to your closet. With Windstopper® fabric on the front, you’ll be able to ride in surprisingly cold weather in just a jersey. Plus, the multidenier 100% polyester main body acts like a reservoir to keep it from feeling too clammy against your skin.

Arrivo Bibtight

Arrivo Bibtight. Love the Sorpasso but it isn’t keeping you warm enough on your rides? Then the Arrivo is for you. Castelli considers it “the Sorpasso for the far North,” and for good reason. The thick fleecy Windstopper® X-Fast 2 fabric thigh and knee coverage will extend the comfort range to well below freezing. But they’ve kept the Thermoflex Core Due in the front around the seat-pad area for wind protection and warmth and wicking.

Womens

Magia W Jacket in Deep Blue/White
Magia W Jacket. This jacket doesn’t just look hot—and that it certainly does—it’ll also keep you warm without overheating. Windstopper® X-Fast 2 fabric on the front is windproof and water-resistant and the Warmer back panel will prevent overheating. Rear reflective tabs will keep you visible in low-light and a silicone gripper at the waist keeps the jacket from riding up. And let’s be real, this is a really flattering look.

Incanto W Jersey FZ in Black/White
Incanto W Jersey FZ. It was really hard to choose between the women’s jerseys for this list, but the Incanto makes it because it, yes, looks awesome, but also features stretchy Thermoflex Lite fabric which makes it great for those fall rides when the leaves are starting to change and there’s a chill in the air. And the sublimation-print asymmetrical graphic is awesome.

Fiamma Jersey FZ in Anthracite/Pink

Fiamma Jersey FZ. This is such a great look. We love the flames. Especially in anthracite/pink. Plus, the Warmer fabric makes it warm and moisture wicking.

Gardena W Wool Jersey in Magenta

Gardena W Wool Jersey. This is like the female version of the men’s Pampeago. Perfect for casual rides or to just wear whenever. And the screenprint graphics are awesome.

Sella W Rain Jacket in White

Sella W Rain Jacket. This is the ultimate rain jacket. Fully seam sealed with waterproof zippers this’ll keep you nice and dry. Reflective piping and screen print provide optimal visibility from all angles—and definitely adds to the sleekness of the design.

Sorpasso W Tight in Black/Green Fluo
Sorpasso W Tight. The best tight Castelli has ever made will finally be available for women! Thermoflex  and Thermoflex Core Due fabric keep you warm and dry. The women’s version also features a Progetto X2 Air women’s-specific seat for maximum comfort. And, like the rest of the line, the design looks great.

Can't wait till August? Yeah, us neither. But in the meantime, check out our current Castelli collection.

Cycling Jersey Sizing

The rule is that there are no rules when it comes to cycling jersey sizing.   Different manufacturers all have different rules for sizing cycling clothing.   Castelli, our most popular brand of cycling jerseys, makes their jerseys small to match European sizes.  Most of our customers prefer to order one size larger in Castelli items while some even prefer to order two sizes larger.

For many of our brands we produce videos explaining sizing.  We shot this video earlier this year about Castelli.

We go to great lengths to make sure we provide 100% accurate sizing information to our customers.  If you have any questions don't hesitate to call our cycling clothing experts at 888-817-8060.  Here's a sizing chart that we created for our line of college jerseys

Cycling Jersey Buyers Guide

We are republishing this from our website.   With the holidays approaching a lot of people are buying their first cycling jersey.  Bicyclinghub.com can help you find the perfect cycling jersey for your loved ones!

Why Buy a Cycling Jersey

Cycling specific sportswear is designed for your riding comfort, and with the functionality that will allow you to perform at your best throughout your workouts on the bike. Of course, a certain amount of form goes along with the high function of a bike jersey. Premium quality sublimation printing, from most if not all manufacturers, makes for infinite possibilities with strong colorfast designs that not only express your individual style , but make you more visible and safe out there on the road. All of us who choose to spend many hours in the saddle will undoubtedly accumulate a collection of cycling jerseys, and will rarely ride without one.Whatever your riding involves, be it commuting, racing, touring, weekend recreation, group rides, road or off-road, fast, slow or steady-paced, a cycling jersey makes sense every time. Here are some of the features that you would expect to find in a cycle jersey, that make it so much better than riding in just a cotton tee:

  • Let's start with fabric. A bike jersey will be made using highly technical and lightweight fabrics. These will always wick moisture away from the body and to the outside of the garment, where it can speedily evaporate. The upshot is that you stay dry and do not overheat as you work out. In the case of a cotton tee this moisture would be absorbed and stay damp for some time, even after your ride is long over. Premium brands such as Castelli have special treatments applied their performance fabrics to make them even better. These fabrics will also provide UV protection in the Summer months. We all on occasion see some riders going shirtless on a beautiful day. Not recommended! Sun protection is so important, and hey- where do you carry your house keys?! There are of course different fabric options available offering thermal protection, water and wind resistance, suited to cooler weather riding jerseys.
  • The fit, for both men's and women's cycling jerseys, will typically be fairly close, but still allow freedom of movement. This close fit makes you more aerodynamic on the bike and also allows the fast-wicking fabric to carry perspiration away from the body more effectively. Of course fit is a personal preference and as well as race-cut, super form fitting garments (some which are even tailored to the actual riding position), there are more relaxed options, sometimes called a 'club-fit'.
  • Additional extremely useful features included on pretty much all cycling jerseys are the front zipper and rear cargo pockets. The length of the front zipper on a cycling jersey can vary from a short zip, to 3/4 length, all the way to a full-length zipper. The zipper allows easily adjustable additional ventilation. You can open your jersey all the way down as you work your way up a long arduous climb, and easily close it up again for that exhilerating and breezy descent! Those rear pockets are a must, and will easily accommodate most essentials that you take on your rides, like cell-phones, house keys, money, energy snacks, a spare tube, a vest or cape, or those armwarmers you started out with. Some jersey pockets now have a secure zipper compartment for coins or keys. All of us here at Bicyclinghub.com proudly consider ourselves to be cycling jersey experts, and would love to share our collective wisdom and experience with you. Whether you are looking for your first jersey, a gift, or perhaps giving a brand you haven't used before a try, we are happy to assist with product information and sizing advice. Not All Cycling Jerseys are Made Alike

    Giro D'Italia 2012 Cycling Jersey
    Giro D'Italia 2012 Cycling Jersey

If your fashion sense is stopping you from giving cycling a try, give the outfits another chance. Contrary to what you often see in the media, cycling jerseys aren’t always fluorescent yellow.

The basic cycling jersey is designed to be longer in the back so skin doesn’t show as you ride; it also has pockets on the back panel and a long zipper in the front. Made from sweat-wicking materials, cycling jerseys are designed to fit you tightly so you encounter less air resistance as you ride, while also helping you stay cooler. They come in a variety of patterns and sleeve lengths, so you’re bound to find something that suits your fashion sensibilities.

    Cycling Jerseys for Men

Some of the best-selling jerseys for men are those that represent a favorite brewing company, rock band, racing team or event, like the Giro d’Italia. Also available are jerseys that resemble the funny t-shirts found in department stores. Green Eggs and Ham, anyone?

    Cycling Jerseys for Women

Jerseys for women are made to fit the curves of a woman’s body. The cuts are ultra-feminine, available in sleeveless varieties and come with enchanting graphics that make it hard to choose just one. Asian-inspired jerseys resemble silk Chinese qipao tops. Empowerment shirts feature Rosie the Riveter or awareness ribbons, and silly shirts feature Gumby and Dr. Seuss characters. If you want a cycling jersey that’s a little racier, keep your eyes peeled for those that look like they have a corset printed onto them.

Jersey Colors in the Pro-Cycling World

Some of the most recognizable cycling jerseys are the yellow Tour de France and the pink Giro d’Italia jerseys. In the cycling world, the jersey colors are significant. In the Tour de France, the yellow cycling jersey is for the general leader, while the points leader wears green. Several racing events use this color scheme. In the Giro d’Italia, the general leader wears a pink jersey and the points leader wears red. While pink isn’t a common jersey color, it’s common to find points leaders wearing red, green or blue. The leader in youth events usually wears a white jersey. In many races, the mountain leader wears a polka-dotted jersey.
